Why should I invest in a wedding film?
First, we know it’s a little cliche but it’s true–your wedding day is going to go by very fast. When we got married we were surprised at how much of a whirlwind our day was. There are fun moments that any couple is simply going to miss–that’s why it’s nice to have those captured for future viewing.  Your wedding film will be with you years down the road to re-live the excitement… because life moves.

Why should I invest in SidebySide Cinema?
We have been filming and editing weddings, events, and promotional pieces for over 10 years.  We have filmed over 200 weddings and are excited for the next 200  🙂
With SidebySide Cinema we are each strong shooters and we each handle the editing as well.  We’re not distracted by trying to take on other jobs like photography or wedding planning at events–our sole purpose is to deliver a film that will blow you away.  That is our passion!  We have extensive background in filming and editing–we understand the equipment, lighting, story telling, filming, and post production.  We believe that just because a camera can capture video doesn’t necessarily mean it can capture your heart.

How would you describe your filming and editing technique?
Our emphasis is on cinematic  journalism–we capture the day as it happens but in a big, cinematic way.  We want your film to be special–telling the unique story of your day.  Every wedding is different and we love the various personalities, personal touches, and stories that we get to capture.  People will be able to watch it and feel as if they had been there.

When is the payment due and what do I need to hold my date?
One third of the payment and a signed contract is what you need to reserve the date. The remaining balance is due one month prior to the event.

Do you accept credit card payments?
Yes, we do.  We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards.  Please note:  all of our pricing reflects a cash/check discount.

How many cameras do you use at the ceremony and reception?
We typically film the ceremony with 3-4 cameras and the reception with 2-3 cameras operated by yours truly (us!).  We also bring backup cameras as well.

What type of equipment do you use?
This is some of the cool/nerdy stuff we get to play with:

Canon Cinema cameras and Canon Mirrorless cameras with a wide variety of lenses
Sennheiser, Countryman, Sanken, and Rode mics
Sony and Tascam digital audio recorders
Drone
LED/Lowel Pro lights for low light situations
Manfrotto tripods, monopods, Cinevate sliders, and gimbal
Adobe Premiere, Encore, Soundbooth, Photoshop

Do you offer Drone coverage/footage?  Does that cost extra?
Yes, we offer FREE licensed and insured drone coverage.  The only condition is that it depends on the venue location, weather, and the timing of the day.  Keep in mind, some parts of San Diego are off limits for drones.

How do you capture the audio?
We’ve got you covered–don’t you worry.  We use the best setup for each specific circumstance.
We use lavalier microphones, ambient/shotgun microphones, and direct feed audio whenever possible.

What does a finished film look like?
Very pretty! 🙂
We deliver wedding films HD/4K on a variety of formats (digital delivery, Blu-ray discs, and DVDs).

What is the play length of the finished film?
That depends on how long your ceremony and reception are and if you have us capture the pre-wedding. An average length for a wedding film is about an hour and a half.  All packages include a full documentary edit of the ceremony and reception events and about a 5 minute cinematic highlight.  If you go with our Feature Film package you will also get a feature film, which contains your whole day told in an epic, cinematic fashion that runs about 8-10 minutes.

How long will it take to finish editing our wedding film?
Our goal is to have a finished wedding film for you in about 6-20 weeks and we can have a more specific estimate when we get closer to the date.  Feel free to shoot us an email and we can give you a more accurate estimate as we’re editing!

How do you handle the music licensing?
We pay to license music since it is illegal to sync unlicensed music to a film.  This cost is part of our package pricing.   Contact us for more info.

Do you offer raw footage?
Yes, we have an add-on for raw footage.  With this, you get an external hard drive shipped to you which contains all of the raw/unedited files.
