Gina + Kevin – Coronado Wedding Films

We had a lovely time getting to know Gina and Kevin on their wedding day! They had a beautiful Coronado wedding at the Hotel Del and everything was on the beach, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, which was a first for us. It was a perfect day with the weather finally cooling down after that crazy heat wave in May and the kids were so cute. Congratulations!

We get to shoot a lot of weddings, and we love weddings! But when we meet with our couples, we always love to find out how they got there, how did they get engaged? Rarely do we actually get to film an engagement happening before our eyes! Steven contacted us and filled us in on his surprise and we were excited to be a part of it. It ended up being one of two rainy days all year, and boy was it rainy and windy! We managed to keep the equipment safe and still capture all of it. The kids are so cute aren’t they? And what a thought out story to include the kids and a treasure hunt, love it!

Kate + Jaime – Highlight Film

We had a great time with this sweet couple! They had so much fun dancing the night away and I loved the beautiful candy bar. I love that Jaime had a black diamond ring, what a unique detail! The poem being read throughout the highlight was written by Jaime to Kate which was also so sweet 🙂 Congratulations!

Jennifer + Dax – San Diego Wedding Films

Wow, what a story! First love, lost love, love of my life. These two met in high school, dated, broke up, dated an broke up a few more times over the years and then seventeen years after the last time, they reconnected and now they are finally married after all these years. What a fantastic story! We met up with them the day before their wedding to film a little ‘When Harry Met Sally” type love story for them to show at their reception the next day. Their friends are really funny, we loved it. So enjoy this couple’s best day ever!

We had such a great time with Iris and Marcel! They got *lucky* to have the only rainy day this entire fall/winter! So their photo time was cut short, but they didn’t waste any time having a great time despite the weather. Their first look and the first look down the aisle were so emotional and they are just so in love! They are just an all around fun and awesome couple, and you can tell they have no lack of friends with the largest bridal party we’ve seen! Enjoy!!

Inspiration

Hey SidebySide Cinema followers!

We have been posting our highlight films a bunch but you haven’t heard from us in a while. While learning all about parenthood (and still shooting weddings) this past six months, we’ve also been catching up on watching films, one of our favorite pastimes. Are you looking for some inspiration this spring season? Maybe you  just need a break from wedding planning? Then see this movie: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty!

I am telling you, drop everything and go get it. It is such a great movie and so so refreshing. It’s the perfect mix of STORY (on of our favorite elements), character, comedy and romance. It is lighthearted but has amazing themes. We also love to travel and have now added Iceland and Greenland to our list of places we want to visit! Lately we feel like there have been so many films that are based on books, are remakes of older movies, or are just horrible ideas in general with no substance so we just had so much fun with this one.

Beautiful story, beautiful direction, beautiful shots, beautiful soundtrack… this is seriously a work of art!
