Birch Aquarium – Olivia + Kris

Olivia and Kris had a fabulous wedding at the Birch Aquarium in San Diego. They got ready nearby at Hilton La Jolly Torrey Pines and had so much fun. The girls were hilarious practicing their dance moves for the first dance. They even included a giant shark stuffed animal, which would make it’s appearance much later in the night.

Their first look was in the beautiful succulent garden at the Hilton. They were so adorable at the first look. She hid behind her gorgeous bouquet after Kris turned around so she could pop out from behind it. They did some romantic photos and photos with their bridal party before heading to the venue.

The Birch Aquarium in San Diego was such a fabulous venue. It was our first time working there but we had been there with our kids before so it was kind of nice to know where everything was ahead of time. We got some awesome shots of the sea life and the ceremony and reception set up before all the guests arrived for the ceremony and reception.

Their ceremony was looking out over the ocean and in front of a handmade backdrop. The flowers were incredible and there was the sound of the tidepool creating a relaxing ambiance. The officiant had lots of neat things to say and related their wedding and relationship to the ocean of course. After the ceremony, the guests were free to roam the entire aquarium which was really neat. They had cocktail hour outside and Olivia and Kris finished up some photos by the cliffs and in the aquarium.

The reception was inside the main area with sharks hanging overhead and a school of fish swimming behind the head table. The tables were beautiful and the reception energy was high. The first dance was hilarious with the whole bridal party involved with Disney songs and the stuffed shark! The stuffed shark made it’s final appearance as it was tossed instead of a bouquet or garter.

Hope you enjoy this super fun and beautiful wedding!

Allison + Kolby – Riverwalk Golf Club

We first met Allison and Kolby at their friends’ wedding last year. We were super excited that they got in touch with us to film their wedding as well! They got ready and had their first look at the Dana Hotel. I loved that Allison’s ” something blue” was a ring from her mom. It was also so cute how nervous Kolby was. Both of them were smiling so much and just couldn’t wait to see each other.

They had their first look at the Dana too. It was the best! They were just so cute when they saw each other for the first time, so happy and so excited for the day to begin.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Riverwalk Golf Club, it was so beautiful! What a unique gem hidden in the middle of San Diego. We really enjoyed their ceremony, they had so many elements to make it so personal. Photos of loved ones there in spirit were displayed at the front of the ceremony. The officiant was a friend and he had so many nice things to say about the pair. And their vows, wow! They were so sweet and thoughtful.

The reception was very fun. Instead of assigned seating and a sit down dinner, there were place cards people could use to reserve a spot and passed hors d’ourves. It was great because they just knew their guests would be out of their seats all night. Kids had coloring books, giant jenga, connect four and cornhole to play with. There was a photo booth and lots of music and dancing for everyone and they had so much fun. I loved that they were both on the dance floor all night!

Congratulations, hope you enjoy!

Becky + Patrick – California Princess Wedding

Becky and Patrick had a lovely wedding on the water! They had their California Princess wedding circling the bay all night. We met them for the first time at the Lowe’s Coronado Hotel where they were getting ready. Becky got ready with a few close friends and was so incredibly relaxed. I loved her cute shoes and the bouquets.

Patrick got ready with his two sons and some of his friends. They all had such a great time relaxing with the view of the bay while getting ready.

After everyone was dressed and wedding perfect, we headed down stairs for their first look.  I loved how Patrick said “Who is it?” when she approached. So cute and playful and got Becky to laugh a real laugh! They had a relaxing photo time both at Loews and at the beach. The weather was lovely and everything looked beautiful! They are from Arizona so we think they were especially thankful for the cooler weather!

After all the photos were finished, including a big group photo, everyone boarded the ship. The ceremony was on the top level with the Coronado bridge in the background. It was a very nice ceremony and you could tell everyone was just so happy for Becky and Patrick.

After the ceremony, the guests moved to the middle floor for cocktails and goodies while Becky  and Patrick took a few more photos. Then they all moved to the bottom floor for dinner. There were two lovely speeches delivered by good friends. After dinner, everyone moved back to the middle floor for a dessert bar, cake and dancing!

The dance floor overlooked the bay and all the city lights and it was just so cool!

Hope you enjoy this California Princess wedding!!

Sarah + Antoney – Talega Golf Club

We were so excited when Sarah and Antoney told us they wanted to hire us for their wedding! We filmed their friends’ wedding last year (also at Talega Golf Club) so it was so great getting to catch up with them as well. We started at different homes for their getting ready time. They had tons of delicious South American food and other goodies. Sarah was absolutely adorable when she got dressed. She just kept laughing genuinely and seemed like she was having so much fun on her big day!

They decided to see each other for the first time when Sarah walked down the aisle with her dad. They had a beautiful ceremony at the Mission Basilica and it was so sweet to see Antoney relieved to finally be reunited with his bride. The priest shared some lovely words and they performed all the traditional rites. All the guests cheered for them as they exited the church!

After the ceremony, the bridal party headed to the mission at San Juan Capistrano for a photo shoot. All the guests headed to the Talega Golf Club for cocktails and food. It was such strange weather as it was very warm but eventually started raining a bit on the guests! They all moved into the reception and enjoyed a beautiful dinner. The toasts were so great, and we thought it was so sweet what Sarah’s dad said.

Later during the reception, there was a dessert bar with a chocolate fountain and churros. Everyone danced the night away and there was even some college rivalry going on! At the end of the night, Sarah and Antoney did a sparkler exit to head off as a married couple! Congratulations you two!

From the couple:

Danielle and Jared are absolutely amazing!! They captured every moment and detail of our wedding day perfectly, and created the most beautiful films for us! We just received our films and cannot stop watching – they did an AMAZING job! We cannot thank them enough! They are both so easy going and fun to work with, and put my husband and I both at ease in front of the camera on our wedding day just by being themselves. It was like working with old friends! Their talent is way beyond incredible, and you absolutely should hire SidebySide Cinema! Sarah & Antoney

Ivette + Roger – Hotel Del Coronado Wedding

It’s no secret that Hotel Del Coronado is a fantastic wedding venue with its beautiful historic and iconic buildings set on the shores of Coronado island. We have worked here a few times and always love it. Ivette and Roger’s beautiful day started out here for the getting ready and then returned here for the reception. They each had a nice relaxing time getting ready with their bridal parties and having some photo time. I loved her blue shoes from Sex in the City! And her dress and details were spot on.

The ceremony was at St. Joseph’s Cathedral and it was such a lovely ceremony. It was a very traditional ceremony and it’s always so sweet to see a groom’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time. After the ceremony they had a photo shoot in the church and then with a vintage car. They continued photos at Hotel Del Coronado with their wedding party and just the two of them. They looked so happy!

The reception was so fun. They first had cocktail hour in the courtyard with drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres, then the guests moved inside the crown room. The crown room is a huge ballroom and it is just breathtaking. Ivette and Roger had rather large wedding and the ballroom was full of tables and flowers and desserts. Each of the tables names were precious stones which represented how precious all their friends and family are to them. They also had a fabulous donut bar to compliment their awesome cake. And isn’t their cake topper adorable?

The guests enjoyed dancing and a photobooth the rest of the night. This wedding was so fun and beautiful and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Becca + Mickey – Twin Oaks Estate Wedding

What a magical wedding day! Becca and Mickey spoke their vows to each other at the Twin Oaks Estate Wedding venue in San Marcos. It’s such a beautiful venue and the afternoon light is just fantastic! The guys and girls had so much fun getting ready. They were laughing, toasting and Becca and Mickey exchanged gifts. Becca gave Mickey an adorable book that she had made for him. It had a bunch of stick figure drawings with their story. He loved it! He gave her a necklace which she also loved. Her mom was so sweet trying to calm Becca’s nerves but she accidentally made her cry which was adorable.

We haven’t done a ton of first looks lately so it was a nice change of pace to have one again! These two are just so incredibly cute together. They really calmed each other down and then enjoyed a nice photo shoot. After that, they had a Ketubah ceremony. The Rabbi had a great ceremony and read some of their Ketubah which was full of wonderful words.

The ceremony was also beautiful. I loved his big grin and thumbs up as she walked down the aisle and they were just all smiles the whole time. Once the ceremony was finished and they were official, they went of to do some more photos. The guests enjoyed cocktail hour and I loved the name cards on the elephants, so cute! The guests also took instant photos for the guest book while they were hanging out. I loved the decor for the reception! Each place had different china and the gold candle holders were on point. They had a wall of wedding photos and an incredible dessert bar!

At the reception, their friends sang and played guitar for the first dance. Their friends and family gave lovely toasts and everyone danced the night away!

We hope you enjoy this gorgeous couple’s big day!

Johanna + Andre – Villa de Amore Temecula

Johanna and Andre had celebrated their beautiful wedding at Villa de Amore Temecula. They rented a really awesome house right across the street from the venue and that’s where the girls got ready. It was great, so relaxing and a ton of space for everyone to do hair, makeup and pack up fun goodies for the reception. Johanna finished practicing her vows while getting her hair done. The girls enjoyed hanging out and then headed over to the Villa. Johanna’s dress was waiting for her there and we got beautiful shots of her getting dressed and posing in the getting ready room.

Andre and the groomsmen arrived a bit later to get ready. He had awesome cuff links that were from Zelda and Jared totally geeked out on it. The guys took some photos and hung out until the ceremony.

The ceremony was beautiful. Andre hadn’t seen her before the ceremony so it was so great to see his face as she walked down the aisle. Johanna almost lost her veil at the beginning and they laughed a ton. They had really great vows and they each mentioned video games which was super cute. Her girls had asked her earlier if she really wanted to leave in the part where she promised she’d play them with him. She thought it would be funny to include it and it was perfect.

After the ceremony, it’s tradition for the Villa de Amore Temecula to do a group shot with all the guests. Then the wedding party went around the grounds to do photos. The guests enjoyed cocktails and lawn games. Their reception was outside and since their wedding was on mother’s day, Johanna was so thoughtful to include roses at the tables for all the moms. One of Johanna’s friends sang some songs and there were such thoughtful speeches.

After dinner everyone moved inside for dancing. Their wedding party had so much fun and was on the dance floor all night! They had some late night snacks and a sweet send off.

Hope you enjoy this beautiful wedding!
